Today, no major aircraft manufacturer builds its own engines. They depend on specialized suppliers. The same evolution has played out across the automotive, electronics, and energy industries.
Space is now approaching that same inflection point.
Space companies today are largely vertically integrated, building their own engines alongside every other subsystem, because the industry is still young enough that dedicated specialists haven't yet emerged at scale.
